1a) The persona is annoyed and tired in the poem. Phrases like “When Will the bell ring and end this Weariness” and “Their dross of indifference; and Take The Toll” shows that he wanted to end the lessons quickly as the students cannot be bothered to learn at all.

This shows that the students are very rebellious and out of control which made the persona used the word "sick" which can mean that he was ill or tired of teaching the class.

"What good to them or me, I cannot see! "
This shows that the class is already hopeless in learning and the persona has already given up teachong the class. He feels that the lessons are a waste of time as the students just cannot be bothered to learn.

This is an alliteration that has cannot and start both ending with "t". It suggests that the persona is very annoyed.
1. A speech is good so long as its purpose is achieved in the minds of
ReplyDeletethe audience. A speech can have many bombastic words, very emotional,
but at the end of the speech, the audience may not be able to
understand what the speaker is trying to deliver to them which made
the speech useless.
Another piece of advice O had learnt was to consider the audience's
culture, background etc. If a speaker use very big words that only
people with certain level of knowledge can understand in front of
audience like construction workers, they will only wonder what the
speaker is talking about.
The third piece of advice is to keep the speech short and expose an
idea. No one would like to listen to a very long speech. No matter how
well the speaker talks, one will be tired to listen to a long speech.
2. President Bush kept the speech around 4 minutes which was quite
short.In his speech, he had focus on his intention to unite the
citizens calm them down from the shock from terrorist attacks.
3. President Bush knew that his audience was fellow Americans thus he
used words like cannot dent the steel of American resolve to motivate
the audience. They are very angry at the terrorist for attacking the
country and President Bush emphasised on the acts of terrorism and the
victims' plight.
